Can space be folded, unfolded,and redefined — just like paper?
Folds18 was founded by a design duo with a shared passion for spatial transformation. Trained in architecture and material philosophy, they had spent years studying across Europe, where they were deeply influenced by the spirit of modernism, and in particular, the enduring principles of the Bauhaus movement:
Form follows function.
Material embodies the idea.
Design serves life.
They established their first studios in Beijing and later in Shenzhen — not to produce more furniture, but to challenge the boundaries between structure, material, and motion.
They chose paper — one of the softest yet most structurally expressive aterials — to explore a new kind of spatial system: One that is lightweight yet strong, modular yet stable, movable yet meaningful. Through folding, stacking, and reconfiguration, paper was transformed from a medium into a message — from surface into structure.

We craft our furniture from FSC-certified long-fiber kraft paper sourced from responsibly managed North American forests.
Bonded with starch-based, biodegradable glue, our products contain no plastic, no formaldehyde, and no toxins. Every fold and curve reflect our belief that good design should care for both people and planet.
