Is Folds18 paper furniture waterproof, fireproof, or moisture-resistant?

Yes, our furniture is treated with a water-repellent coating that resists moisture from daily use. You can wipe the surface with a damp cloth and let it air-dry — even in humid environments like coastal cities, our paper furniture remains structurally sound and mold-free.

How do I clean and maintain Folds18 products?

Our products are low-maintenance and easy to clean. Thanks to the smooth surface of the special kraft paper, simply dust off with a soft brush or use a lightly damp cloth to wipe the surface. No special treatment is needed.

 

 Do Folds18 products have an odor? Are they eco-friendly?

We use North American long-fiber plant-based kraft paper, bonded with natural rubber latex and starch glue — completely free from harsh plastics or synthetic coatings. A slight natural paper scent may be noticeable when first opened but will dissipate after 1–2 days of ventilation.

How durable are Folds18 products? How long do they last?

Our paper furniture can last over 5 years with regular use. The honeycomb structural core ensures load-bearing strength up to 300kg, depending on the product. Over time, light compression marks may appear — this is normal and doesn’t affect performance. We recommend using with cushions or boards for extended durability.

Can I reshape or compress the furniture?

Yes! All Folds18 designs use a zero-fold compression design. You can stretch, curve, bend, or contract the product freely, making it ideal for small spaces, transport, and multi-use setups. Our furniture compresses to less than 10% of its expanded size — making it easy to store and move.

 

What is covered under the product guarantee?

We offer support for structural defects such as delamination, paper tear, misalignment, or shape failure under normal use. Issues due to intentional damage or compression deformation from misuse are not covered.

Folds18 was founded by a design duo with a shared passion for spatial transformation. Trained in architecture and material philosophy, they had spent years studying across Europe, where they were deeply influenced by the spirit of modernism, and in particular, the enduring principles of the Bauhaus movement:

They established their first studios in Beijing and later in Shenzhen — not to produce more furniture, but to challenge the boundaries between structure, material, and motion.

They chose paper — one of the softest yet most structurally expressive aterials — to explore a new kind of spatial system: One that is lightweight yet strong, modular yet stable, movable yet meaningful. Through folding, stacking, and reconfiguration, paper was transformed from a medium into a message — from surface into structure.
